African penguin breeding season has just begun and we’re excited to say we’ve welcomed three endangered chicks into the colony already. One of the penguin eggs needed to be incubated, so we were able to bring you this amazing footage of the hatching process in progress! | The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore

As a fresh blanket of snow spread across the Aquarium, a penguin chick started to break out of its shell. Once the chick hatches, we will formally introduce it and share its journey as it joins our colony under the best of care from our dedicated team.
