Mar 16, 2016 · Each Nesco tray has roughly .8 sq ft of usable drying space; my 12 trays equal about 9.6 sq. ft. A 9-tray Excalibur is a 50% increase in drying space, and should cut down on the need to rotate trays to ensure even drying. If the Excalibur will also dry that batch in <24 hours, it will effectively triple my rate of production.

May 20, 2013 · Before I dehydrate anything, I soak the trays and sheet inserts in a sink of hot water in which I have put about 1/2 cup of bleach. I then rinse the trays and inserts and reassemble the unit. I let it run empty until all the water has dried. When prepping food for dehydration, wear disposable plastic food-prep gloves.

Which brings me back to my original question. If you recommend a dehydrator with a minimum of 500 watts, where is this additional wattage applied? Heat, airflow or load?

Sep 3, 2018 · I let the knife sit in the vacuumed down state for a few hours then opened the bag and placed the knife / sheath combo into my Excalibur dehydrator at the 115 - 120 degree setting for three hours. I did get an imprint of the sealer bag on the backside of the sheath, I actually like the pattern (on the back side) and a nice smooth front side.

I am looking for a dehydrator to fill this "gap." Requirements: small footprint - we have limited counter space and would obviously need to leave this running for hours on end.
