ThriftBooks is a total scam with coupon codes that don't get deducted and free books that are not free. To get the free "earned" book you have to spend another $30. Nothing is free even when you recommend a friend. Avoid this store like the corona virus, they are extremely dishonest!

ThriftBooks is legit. I used to work there. Quality does vary because it’s up to a human receiver who is moving VERY fast due to being paid by speed. Also, yes shipping is slow, due to two different shipping systems in play. One to pick up and then transfer to another for final delivery.

It was really impossible to tell without opening the book and they returned my money once I contacted them. I even bought books in "Acceptable" condition that only had a cracked spine (I personally couldn't care less).

Jul 27, 2021 · Nearly anything will be better than Amazon. Amazon purposefully loses money on books to undercut prices from bookstores and publishers. They’ve done a lot of really awful things in the book industry in general. I work at a local bookstore and when we can’t order a book for a customer we recommend bookshop.org.

The first was $2.99, the other $3.27 (most books I buy there are $4 or less with shipping). [They seem to have raised prices - most of the books I buy are a minimum of $4 apiece.

Even if they don't have exactly what I'm looking for, they usually get it within the week. Some times you might not know the exact edition of a book your getting until it's arrived though.
