Paul K. Martin, appointed by President Joe Biden in December 2023, was informed of his dismissal through an email from the White House.

The White House fired the inspector general for the U.S. Agency for International Development on Tuesday, several U.S. officials said. The dismissal comes a day after his office warned that the Trump administration’s dismantling of USAID had made it all but impossible to monitor $8.

Under the law, the administration is required to give 30-day notice to Congress prior to terminating an inspector general and give reasons why.
