After scant details and many, many rumors about what the plot could be, Universal Pictures has unveiled some official information about Christopher Nolan’s next film. The film will be based on Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey,

Film director Christopher Nolan surprised the world with the news that he would direct an adaptation of Homer's epic Greek poem, The Odyssey, for his next project with Universal Studios. Like the last Christopher Nolan movie,

The film has shared news of its cast, which includes some of the most exciting actors working today, including Tom Holland and Zendaya, in their fourth project together, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Matt Damon .

“ Christopher Nolan ’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology,” said the studio. “The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.”

Among the cast is Damon, who previously starred in Nolan's latest film, Oppenheimer, marking a reunion between the actor and director. Hathaway is also set to join the ensemble, reuniting with Nolan after starring in 2012's The Dark Night Rises and 2014's Interstellar.

Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Anne Hathaway and Charlize Theron will star in The Odyssey, set for July 2026 release.
