A sheriff's deputy has been fired after leaving a police dog in a hot car, which ultimately led to the canine's death, officials said.

A Georgia deputy is out of a job after a K-9 officer died in a hot patrol car, authorities say. In a statement, the Dade County Sheriff's Office mourned the loss of K-9 Georgia, one of the department's newest police dogs.

On July 13th, the Dade County Sheriff’s Office lost the newest member of their K-9 team. According to a Facebook post, K-9 Georgia, was in her patrol car kennel while her handler was inside the sheriff’s office in Trenton.
