River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon said when firefighters arrived at the Gabriel House Assisted Living Facility Sunday night, they found people hanging out of the building needing rescue.

Multiple residents of the facility were declared dead at the scene of the Gabriel House, with many others taken to area hospitals in varying conditions. Five firefighters were also taken to hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.
