Detectives in Riverside County are asking for the community’s help in a shooting investigation involving an off-duty Hemet police officer earlier this week. An off-duty Hemet police officer intervening in a road rage confrontation Monday in Murrieta shot one of the parties, critically wounding him.

It is not clear why the off-duty police officer shot the man involved in a road rage argument. News reports say the wounded man may have had a fake gun.
