UTSA founded its football program in 2011, so not much history exists between these two. The Longhorns and Roadrunners have played just once as Texas beat UTSA by 21 points in Austin in 2022. Jahdae Barron, who is now a senior defensive back for the Longhorns, scored on a 44-yard interception return in that 41-20 victory.

UTSA transfer edge Trey Moore will captain Texas for the first time against his old team. Moore transferred from San Antonio in the spring and played in both opening games as a Longhorn. Head coach Steve Sarkisian is expected to play around with his roster against the Roadrunners,

UTSA allowed 49 points last week against Texas State, which racked up 8.8 yards per play during the first half, when its starters were still in the game. Bobcats running back Lincoln Pare torched the Roadrunners to the tune of 109 yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries, and UTSA managed just one sack and 12 quarterback pressures from 76 snaps.
