WASHINGTON — Lou Holtz, a legendary college football coach who helped University of Notre Dame win the 1988 National Championship, has died. He was 89. University of Notre Dame confirmed his death Wednesday in a press release. Holtz was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
