Seemingly defying recent polls showing voters’ opposition to property tax increases, Wisconsinites approved a record number of school district referendums totaling $4.4 billion in 2024, according to a report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum.

A new report shows Wisconsin voters approved a record number of school referenda in 2024 elections. The Wisconsin Policy Forum released a study Thursday that found school districts held a record 241 referenda this year.

The state also set records for the number of operating referendums put to voters and for the number that succeeded, according to the Wisconsin Policy Forum.

The Wisconsin Policy Forum study found that school districts asked voters to sign off on a record 241 referendums, eclipsing the old record of 240 set in 1998.
