An Iranian operative told investigators that he was tasked in September with assassinating Trump, according to court records unsealed Friday.

The Justice Department on Friday disclosed an Iranian murder-for-hire plot to kill Donald Trump, charging a man who said he had been tasked by a government official before this week's election with planning the assassination of the Republican president-elect.

Days after the US Presidential elections, the US DOJ made a revelation into Trump's assassination attempt in Butler. The Department on Nov 08 charged an Iranian citizen, 2 US nationals tapped by Tehran to allegedly assassinate Trump before presidential polls.

Iran has denied US allegations of an assassination plot against former President Donald Trump. The US Justice Department alleges an Iranian official directed a plan involving surveillance and assassination of Trump in October 2024.

"There are few actors in the world that pose as grave a threat to the national security of the United States as does Iran,” Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said.
