The breakfast, held annually on MLK day, honors the memory and legacy of Dr. King as well as the work of Reverend Jackson.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which means federal employees and many other workers will have the day off. This year, the holiday honoring the life and legacy of the American civil rights icon also coincides with President-elect Donald Trump's Inauguration Day.

Today's local leaders expressed defiance toward Trump, while young speakers at the Columbus celebration spoke in hopeful tones about the future.

Family and others carrying on Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of equality, justice and nonviolent protest want Americans to remember that Monday's holiday is really about helping others.

Nearly 60 years after his death, the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. continue to be honored and celebrated by the next generation.
