Madison Keys knocks Elena Rybakina out of Australian Open
Goran Ivanisevic has quit as Elena Rybakina ’s coach after her exit from the Australian Open. His departure comes in the wake of Rybakina’s previous coach, Stefano Vukov, rejoining her team.
Madison Keys stunned sixth seed Elena Rybakina in her fourth round fixture of the Australian Open 2025 beating her 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 at the Margaret Court Arena.
Goran Ivanisevic said he has ended his short stint as coach of former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina after the Kazakh went out in the fourth round of the Australian Open.
Former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina needed only 53 minutes to storm past junior world No.1 Emerson Jones 6-1, 6-1 in the first round of the Australian Open.
On Tuesday tennis great Goran Ivanisevic announced the partnership between the pair was also coming to an end. Ivanisevic took to Instagram to confirm the pair had elected to go their separate ways following her Australian Open exit.
The problem for the 2023 finalist at Melbourne Park follows a season where she was plagued by injury and illness. Rybakina’s build-up to Wimbledon in the summer was hampered by acute bronchitis, which also caused her to withdraw from the Paris Olympics.
Rybakina hired Ivanisevic ahead of last year's WTA Finals and they started working together in the off-season. But their partnership was marred when the Kazakh rehired her former coach, Stefano Vukov, and news broke that Vukov was suspended by the WTA pending investigation.
Elena Rybakina didn't hide that she was frustrated over not having Stefano Vukov in her box during the Australian Open and also indicated that continuing her partnership with Goran Ivanisevic isn't set in stone. On Monday, the world No. 7 saw her run at Melbourne Park end in the round-of-16 after USA's Madison Keys handed her a 6-3 1-6 6-3 defeat.
