Spring football will officially be underway for the Texas Longhorns on Tuesday, March 25, yet fans won't be able to catch a glimpse of the fresh squad in action until August. Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte and head coach Steve Sarkisian announced last month that the team has eliminated this year's spring game showcase and replaced it with a Fan Appreciation Day set for Saturday,

The Longhorns will have a "fan appreciation day" April 26 that coincides with the last day of spring practices, which is traditionally when the spring game would be. Fans will still have opportunities to interact with the team and do all the activities surrounding the game that typically happen.

Texas football is part of a growing national trend since 19 Power Four teams have already announced they won't play a spring game.
