The lifting of force majeure will allow South Sudan to resume pumping as much as 150,000 barrels a day of crude oil to an export terminal on Port Sudan. The bulk of the crude is exported to refiners in China and Malaysia. South Sudan's petroleum ministry couldn't be reached for an immediate comment.

Sudan lifted a force majeure notice issued in March on crude exports from South Sudan, signaling resumption of oil shipments through a pipeline that had been damaged in a war zone.

South Sudan announced early this week its plan to produce at least 90,000 barrels of crude oil per day as the country resumes normal production. This comes after oil supply to international markets were cut off last February because of the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Sudan has lifted a nearly year-long force majeure on the transport of crude oil from its neighbour South Sudan to a port on the Red Sea after security conditions improved, according to a letter seen by Reuters on Monday.
