DECATUR, Ala. ( WAFF) - Two officers are recovering after one accidentally shot himself during a training exercise. According to Decatur Police, one officer discharged a firearm and the bullet grazed the officer’s leg. The other officer was injured by shrapnel.

According to the Decatur Police Department, while actively engaged in a firearm training drill on Thursday an officer accidently discharged his firearm and sustained a graze wound to his leg.

The Decatur Police Department tells WAND News the accident involved a motorcycle and a car while police investigated Martin Luther King Jr. was closed at Garfield St. and Grand Ave. Police say roads opened by 9 p.m. No word on if anyone was hurt.
