Banned books seem to be everywhere. While some might claim that they are "protecting children" by challenging or banning books from schools, libraries, and other public places, what they are really doing is a form of censorship.

A San Diego native will Monday give a special reading of his book, banned by an Arizona school district in 2012, as part of National Banned Book Week.

Displays of banned and challenged books, including information on how to fight censorship, will be up at seven Bucks County libraries this week.

San Diego native Matt de la Peña will read from "Mexican WhiteBoy" at the Encinitas Library Sept. 23 as part of the county promotion of Banned Book Week, which spans from Sept. 22-28.
