A town hall will be used as a temporary post office while a local branch is closed for seven weeks for a refurbishment. The town hall in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, will offer the service from 27 January.

There is hope for the future of a town centre Post Office with "interest from two retailers" after the announcement that its current store would be closing.

POST Offices in south Cumbria at risk of closure have been described as ‘vital’ community hubs. A councillor will call on the government to intervene with ‘urgency’ to protect post offices in South Cumbria including both Barrow and Kendal branches at a meeting on January 23.

The shop, in Cabin Lane, Oswestry, will be closing in July, said a Co-op spokesperson. Post Office Limited has been notified of the closure and said it would confirm whether it would seek another operator in the area once a review had taken place.
