Despite his many memorable leading man performances over the years, Jude Law has at least one regret in his filmography. The 2x Oscar nominee recently reflected on director Charles Shyer’s 2004 remake of Alfie as a “bad move” for his career following Academy Award-nominated performances in Cold Mountain (2003) and The Talented Mr.

In the movie, which was a remake of the 1966 version with Michael Caine, Law starred as an east end womaniser, who exploits his job as a limo driver to sleep with attractive women. It was a box office flop, and critically panned, with The Independent calling it “laboured and implausible” at the time.

Throughout his wide-ranging, decades-long career, Jude Law has played nearly every kind of role imaginable, working under acclaimed directors including Wes Anderson, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Soderbergh. But while they can't all be hits, the 51-year-old recently looked back on one particular misfire relatively early into his career.

"I was in a really strong position [at that time] because I'd just had another [Oscar] nomination on the back of ‘Cold Mountain,'" Law said, "and for ‘Alfie' to be the film I

"I think it was made for too much money, and I was probably paid too much money," he says of the 2004 box office bomb.
