1st Grade Books for Summer Reading List (Ages 6 – 7) If your 1st grade child loves a book, get more books by the same author or in the same series. Keep them reading as much as you can!

See all 24 books on the 2023 edition of RWJ Jr or Read With Jenna Jr., a summer reading initiative for kids. Jenna Bush Hager hand-selected each of the books on the list. IE 11 is not supported.

Additionally, kindergarten and second grade students who attended a "department-funded high-quality summer reading program or a Learning Beyond the Bell out-of-school program" also will receive books.
