Right-hander Tyler Bremner pitched with plenty of emotion this season during his junior year at UC Santa Barbara, as his mother Jennifer’s health worsened after a five-year battle with breast cancer before she ultimately passed away on June 11.

Former UC Santa Barbara pitcher Tyler Bremner had to deal with tragedy on the way to being selected No. 2 overall over the Angels in the MLB draft.

The question for the Angels coming into the draft was if they’d use the No. 2 pick to continue their strategy under GM Perry Minasian.
