Toyota's salaried North American employees have been recalled back to the office starting in September.

The new executive assignments are aimed at bolstering the automaker’s leadership in its software and electrification segments.

The automaker in a memo denied the move is designed to reduce headcount but warned that failure to comply could lead to “termination of employment.”
