Atlanta United are on the verge of finalizing a deal to bring Miguel Almirón back from Newcastle United, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein. The MLS club has made a bid of approximately £11 million ($13.5 million), which Newcastle is currently considering and expected to accept in the next few days.

Almiron had been the subject of a bid from Charlotte FC, but despite winning the negotiating rights for his signature, they have stepped aside and allowed Atlanta to move into pole position. The £10m exit would bring the curtain down on his career on Tyneside after six years.

The Mail states that the MLS club have put in a bid of £10M for the Paraguayan. Almiron, who is now 30, wants to return to his old club to resuscitate his career. He has become a bit part player at Newcastle under boss Eddie Howe over the past 12 months.
