Brian Colbert was officially sworn in at Tuesday's Marin County Board of Supervisors meeting as the county's first Black board member in its 175-year history.

Brian Colbert, Marin County’s first Black supervisor, was sworn into office this week after the supervisors were serenaded by a trio of gospel singers. The singers were there at Colbert’s request. “Some of you are probably wondering why a gospel choir,” Colbert said after he had taken the oath of office.

Brian Colbert on Tuesday was sworn in as the first Black member of the Marin County board of supervisors since it was founded 173 years ago.
