In Biden’s case, doctors say the cancer is serious but still treatable, though not curable. President Donald Trump, 78, had a PSA test earlier this year, according to medical records that have been made public — meaning some doctors are still choosing to screen older patients for prostate cancer.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” his personal office said in a statement. “On Friday he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”
Joe Biden was not screened for prostate cancer during his four years as president, in line with medical recommendations for men 70 or older.
