Dan Hooker says Ilia Topuria is simply running Conor McGregor’s playbook and doubts the UFC featherweight champ will move up to 155 pounds.

While Ilia Topuria has teased a move up to lightweight, it appears that not everyone believes the UFC featherweight champ will make such a jump.

UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria has been put on blast by a popular lightweight for ripping off the Conor McGregor playbook.

Topuria (5-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), the older brother of featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, has been targeted to meet Cody Haddon (8-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in a bantamweight bout Feb. 9 at UFC 312 from Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.

A prominent name on the regional scene will now be making his Octagon debut, meaning Ilia Topuria won't be the only UFC fighter from his family.

Ilia Topuria doesn't want to fight at featherweight any more, but he doesn't want to vacate. It's time Dana White and the UFC step in to regulate the situation.

That fight, followed by McGregor’s lightweight debut where he defeated Eddie Alvarez to become the first-ever two-division champion in UFC history, cemented McGregor’s legacy. Comparing his bold moves to Topuria’s ambitions, McGregor dismissed the idea of Topuria taking on a top welterweight fighter, saying, “Never, he has the balls of a kitten.”
