A tropical disturbance could form this week in the Gulf of Mexico and plentiful moisture will mean continued downpours for the Houston area.

The National Hurricane Center has flagged an area of interest in the Gulf for potential tropical development next week. Regardless of tropical development, it could mean heavy rainfall for parts of Florida and the southeastern U.

As of now there is a 20% chance of development. The good news for central Florida is that if this low forms it will take a much different path from what Chantal took last week.
