Utility firm Duke Energy said on Monday it has appointed insider Harry Sideris as its chief executive officer, effective April 1.

The 65-year-old Good, who is the first female to lead the Charlotte-based utility, will step down April 1. She’s being succeeded by Harry Sideris, 54, an employee of the company for 29 years who was promoted to president less than a year ago.

Sideris, who has served as president of Duke Energy since April 2024, is a 29-year veteran of the company. As president, Sideris has led Duke Energy’s electric and gas utilities, including operations,

Sideris will replace Lynn Good. She is retiring from her role as CEO April 1 after serving at the company for more than two decades, including nearly a dozen years as CEO. Good was also the rare female leader of a Fortune 500 company.

Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) said Monday its board appointed current President Harry Sideris as its new President and CEO effective April 1, succeeding Lynn Good, who will retire from her management and board roles at the company.

Duke Energy is one of the biggest utility companies in the nation, serving customers in half a dozen states. Headquartered in Charlotte, it's one of the biggest employers in North Carolina.

Lynn Good will retire as Duke Energy chair and CEO after more than 11 years, the Charlotte-based company announced Monday. Good is also retiring from her board position.
