Cole Palmer generally isn’t one for lengthy, yet banal, sports-cliché-filled media interviews, but after yesterday’s 2-1 defeat at home against Fulham, he did have a few things to say when asked about the disappointment that had just transpired.

Cole Palmer set a new mark for most Premier League goals in a calendar year for Chelsea after giving his team the lead against Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Thursday. The England international wriggled away from three defenders before calmly slotting past Bernd Leno for his 26th league goal of 2024.

And in doing so, he continued his outrageous record in west London. In his first 50 Premier League starts, Palmer has been involved in 52 goals (34 goals, 18 assists), a record that only Erling Haaland and Andy Cole can claim to better. You wouldn't put it past him making it 53 before the end of today's game.
