Cisco is laying off more than 800 workers in the Bay Area, according to WARN documents. The layoffs will slam San Jose, Milpitas and San Francisco offices.

Cisco Systems, Inc. will be laying off hundreds of employees in the Bay Area, according to state filings with the Employment Development Department. The job cuts will impact 134 employees at the tech giant’s San Francisco office at 500 Terry A.

Cisco’s current round of layoffs will impact about 6,000 jobs as the company looks to sharpen its focus on AI networking, security and collaboration.

Cisco Systems has finally revealed the extent of its second round of mass layoffs this year, revealing the impact on its workforce in the Bay Area. The tech giant announced last month that it would cut 7% of its global workforce,

IBM, meanwhile, is cutting 58 San Francisco workers. The New York company has not said how many total employees it plans to let go, but in addition to slashing employees in The City, it’s also laying off 54 people in San Jose, according to letters its representatives sent to the state Employment Development Department.

Cisco has begun laying off 5,600 employees, impacting 7% of its workforce. The restructuring aims to boost efficiency despite the company reporting strong 2024 earnings of nearly $54 billion.
