Caravaggio is a town and comune in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy, Italy, 40 kilometres east of Milan. It is the home town of renaissance era artists Caravaggio and Polidoro da Caravaggio. The town received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on December 22, 1954.
