"I want to register a complaint. We went to Riverside Drive Straders yesterday to buy 4 Barberry plants and mulch. We put the last four they had on our cart. The sign in front of the bushes said $39.99 (they only had one red barberry choice and the picture was on the sign also), but they were $49.99 on the containers. At the counter, they rang up 49.99 and I showed them the sign stating $39.99. The manager was not nice and said the sign must've been moved around. Clearly it hadn't since that's the only red barberry they had. She would not honor the $39.99 on the sign, so we left and bought ours at Oakland Park for $29.99. My husband and I will not go back to Strader's and they lost a good customer/sale. They should've honored the price on the sign. Very poor business!"

"I recently had a balled and burlapped tree planted by Oakland nursery. The good part is they were friendly and courteous, delivered the tree, dug a hole for the tree, put the tree in the hole at the right level and put a layer of mulch over it.\nThe bad part is the hole was just wide and deep enough for the root ball to fit, the burlap remained on top of the root ball and the wire cage was intact. Oakland's website says this is all they will do and they did just that. This will probably keep the tree alive for the one year warranty period but not necessarily for the life span of the tree. \nBest practices for planting a balled and burlapped tree include digging a hole at least twice as big as the ball, removing the burlap from the top of the ball and, most importantly, remove the wire cage at least a third of the way from the top of the ball. If these simple actions are not done, the root system can be girdled by the wire later in the tree's lifespan. \nConsidering the majority of the tree's cost was having Oakland plant the tree, I assumed they would do it right for the life of the tree. I have been a long time customer of Oakland but I have never had them plant a tree. I will not make that mistake again. Oakland apparently does not care about their plants after the warranty period. Buyer beware!"

"Great selection, good prices, and very friendly staff. The staff was positive and helpful--they asked if I needed help and were able to answer my questions. I was able to purchase some lovely houseplants that also happened to be on sale. I was thrilled to be able to support a locally owned business."

"I had a horrible experience at their Fleetwood store location today! The check out person (older guy with glasses) was extremely rude to me. I spent over $300.00 in plants, and he's grabbing them and tossing them around into a box without any care whatsoever. So I said; be careful with those, I don't want them damaged. He ignored me and went on tossing them around anyway. At the end of the sale, he said nothing, just blew me off. You know, in this economy, you would think that the owners of that store, would be greatful for your business, how sad... I will NEVER shop there again!"
